This opening session of Encore is directed at some of the basic questions of our lives: What is our primary identity at this stage of our life? Are we focusing on the past, the present, or the future?  What is giving us a feeling of zest at this point in our lives?  Do we see any connections between the “first half of our life” and now the “second half of our life?” Are we closer or further away from finding meaning to the times of sufferings and losses of our lives? What spiritual practices draw us into deeper joy? Do we resonate with the recently spoken words of Pope Francis: “To follow God’s law, begin with gratitude?”
