s we
live our lives, we are bombarded by negative
influences and seeds of temptation. When we
think someone treats us unfairly or is rude
or mean, sometimes our first thought is to
retaliate, get back at them, eye for an eye.
When life does not go how we plan or want,
we tend to place the blame on someone else.
When we hit life’s speed bumps, we sometimes
think of washing them away with alcohol or
drugs.
Before
these temptations take root, start to grow
in our hearts, causing us to respond in a
negative manner, we must take ownership; ask
God for the
strength to purge our hearts of these
negative spirits. God will not cast us away
from His presence. We are human and require
God’s blessing and grace. When we reach out,
the joy of God’s salvation will be restored
in our hearts. When we share our challenges
with God through prayer, we have the best
partner to help us fight the everyday
temptations from taking root. Through
prayer, the joy of God’s salvation can be
restored. We can live our lives with the
knowledge that God will sustain us with His
limitless love.
Lord, as
we go about our daily lives, help us keep
our hearts open to your limitless love and
good example. Help us recognize we all need
your Holy Spirit to live in us. Lord, allow
us to see temptation as an opportunity to
improve our relationship with you. We pray
you keep us strong with your Spirit. Amen.
