Mission Statement

he Mission of the Catholic Information Center is to make alive the mission of the Paulist Fathers in Grand Rapids and Western Michigan. The lay people who are the Catholic Information Center and the Paulist Fathers who serve them work together for three main goals:

  • Evangelization, the preaching of the Gospel to those who have not heard it, invites all people to hear the Word of God and share in our Church life together. Further the Paulist mission is to bring Gospel truth and the richness of Catholic tradition to the people, institutions and cultures of North America.
  • Reconciliation, the work of healing and compassion, calls us to reach out to our Catholic brothers and sisters, alienated from the Church community; and calls us to respond to the wounds of society and the hunger for peace and justice. We recognize that action on behalf of justice is constitutive of the preaching of the Gospel.
  • Ecumenism, the search for the unity God wills for the Church, opens us to the spiritual riches and Gospel traditions of other Christian churches, and urges us to work with one another for unity in life and mission; opens us also to our unique spiritual kinship with the Jewish people; and to the movement of the Spirit in other world religions.
